ITU G.729
From Wikipractice
Introduction
ITU G.729 is a codec which requires 8kbps of bandwidth, without the packet headers. The total bandwidth required by a voice channel must take in account the following parameters:
- Signalisation bandwidth
- Layer 3 headers
- Layer two headers
Experience in managing IPT demonstrated that taking 24Kbps for a standard G.729a channel (not call center agent which needs more signalisation bandwidth) is a good compromize to solve the bandwidth problems described above.
