Definition

Sustainable development is a development which meets the needs of the present without compromising the capacity of the future generations to be answered in theirs. It aims at a well-balanced development allowing to arrive in:

  • A fairer society
  • A more efficient economy
  • A better protected and valued environment

Sustainability is a holistic approach to living focused on reuse, conservation and low waste. Reprocessing, reconfiguring and recycling are key elements to sustainability.

In the context of forests, sustainability is focused on replacement. Planting replacement forests for trees used for products.
